Privacy notice

This privacy notice explains how Mei handles information when you read inkbloom.life. The site is a personal blog — one author, a small shelf of notes, and no shop window. Nothing here is sold, subscribed to, or signed up for.

When you open a page, the hosting provider may log your IP address, browser type, and the time of the request. Those server logs exist for security and troubleshooting. I do not combine them with cookie values to build profiles or to track you across other websites.

Optional cookies on this site are limited. The cookie named sg_blog_consent stores your response to the banner: accept all, reject all, or customised choices for functional embeds and analytics. A mirror copy may sit in localStorage under cookie_consent_v1 for faster reads. Neither stores your name, email, or payment details because this blog accepts no payments.

Google Maps embeds are treated as functional / embedded content. Under reject all, maps stay hidden until you tap Load map for that page view, or until you allow functional cookies. When a map loads, Google may process your IP address under its own policies. This is explained further on /cookies.php.

I do not operate comment boxes, mailing lists, or account registration on inkbloom.life. The contact page lists a postal address, telephone number, and email for direct outreach. Messages you send by email are kept in my inbox like ordinary correspondence and are not published here.

Typography loads from Google Fonts when you open a page. Google may process your IP address to deliver the files. You can block those requests with browser extensions; the layout may look different without the linked families.

Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012, you may ask what personal data I hold about you that came from direct contact, request correction of inaccurate details, or withdraw consent for optional cookies by clearing site data in your browser. Statutory exceptions apply where retention is required for legal claims.

Children should browse with a guardian. The writing assumes an adult reader and discusses neighbourhood memory without collecting child data deliberately. If you believe a minor submitted personal data through email, write to [email protected] and I will delete the message.

Data retention for email correspondence is informal: I keep letters that inform future notes until they feel answered, then archive or delete them. Server logs at the host expire on their default schedule, typically weeks rather than years. Cookie max-age is about six months unless you clear it sooner.

Cross-border transfer may occur because hosting and font CDNs use infrastructure outside Singapore. I choose vendors with published security statements and do not instruct them to use visitor data for unrelated profiling.

Security measures are proportionate to a small static site: HTTPS where configured, no database of visitors, no form endpoints, and cookie flags set to SameSite=Lax with Secure on HTTPS connections. No system is perfectly secure; report concerns to [email protected].

Changes to this notice appear on this page with an updated build date in the footer. Material changes will not retroactively widen collection without a visible revision here.

This notice last reflects the site build dated in the footer. It replaces earlier drafts that may have circulated during development previews.

If you use the Manage cookies control on /cookies.php, your updated choice overwrites the previous value in sg_blog_consent and in localStorage. Rejecting functional cookies keeps map embeds blocked except for the one-time Load map tap described above.

I do not share visitor email addresses with advertisers or data brokers. There are no advertisements on these pages and no affiliate links disguised as recommendations.

When a page mentions unrest nearby, the text stays with what I heard or saw from my end of the road — never as reporting. That limit applies to privacy as well: I do not publish third-party personal details.
